I don't understand criminals!A couple days ago I posted about the theft of our camper and the miraculous way it was returned to us. Now as we clean it out, I just don't understand why criminals make such a s mess of things.
The story goes that the thieves were going to Wyoming. If I know I am going to travel 1000 miles, then I would want to take care of the home I am going to live in for the next week. But no! The dishes were strewn across the floor of the camper. The deck of cards and Pass the Pigs game were taken apart and pieces lost. Those two games can provide a lot of fun during the down time when you are stuck inside the camper because it is raining and you can't sit outside. Any pen was taken completely apart the same way a curious kid takes pens apart and try to shoot things across the room with the spring. All the tools were out of the tool chest and tossed in the closet. I know last time I took the camper to Wyoming I needed those tools for various problems along the way. If I was a criminal, I definitely would have looked through every cabinet and drawer, but put it back so that I could use it later. I get that maybe they were looking for valuables or cash, but you can look for those things and still keep everything neat and orderly. If I was a criminal I would have set up the coffee maker in the trailer and made a fresh pot to keep me awake on the long drive from Texas to Wyoming. If I was a criminal I would have spread all the towels down as a pallet for the bed. Now these two criminals did get arrested when they stopped at the grocery store. I wonder what they were buying. If I was a criminal I would have bought pillows and a blanket, since the owners of this nice camper had taken out the mattress and bedding. I would buy some canned goods for an easy dinner and chips for a snack. I would buy some trail mix and protein bars. If I were a criminal I probably would buy a 6 pack of beer too. But maybe they didn't think that out and were just buying a pack of cigarettes when they got caught. If I were a criminal I would have driven to the next town before stopping for groceries rather than in the same neck of the woods the owners lived. But I'm glad theses criminals were not very good planners, that they didn't think things through. It sure helped us out when we saw it parked at the local grocery store.

Ha! So happy you caught these criminals. I wonder how many other campers they have "borrowed" or really, stolen. You'd make a pretty bad criminal if truth be told!

They say so many thieves get caught by their own carelessness, but you are right- they should have planned better and made mess (and not stolen your camper). Your descriptions of the mess were vivid.
